Meet Your Dietitian

How it started...
I've been a runner since birth. Legend has it, I crawled a race before my first birthday. I won a pack of diapers, by the way. After that initial taste of competition, was hooked. I went on to become a DI track and field athlete at the University of Northern Iowa, where I studied Movement and Exercise Science. As a collegiate athlete, I didn't understand the importance of proper nutrition. A string of underfueling-related injuries kept me sidelined from sport. Learning how to fuel for performance has helped me overcome injuries and reach my potential.
I earned my Master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin Stout, and completed my dietetic internship at the University of Iowa. I volunteered as a nutrition intern for the Hawkeyes, which set the stage for my professional career. After graduation, I worked as a Clinical Sports Dietitian for Iowa Sports Medicine, where I helped athletes across the state reach their nutrition goals. In this role, I provided individual and group nutrition education for countless high school and collegiate athletes. In 2022, I became Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition for Iowa Athletics, where I provided nutrition education and performance fueling services for the Hawkeyes.
How it's going...
Now, I work as a Private Practice dietitian. I'm a mission to make sports nutrition knowledge accessible to athletes of all ages, genders, and bodies. Throughout my education and professional career, I have developed a clinical focus on REDS research, awareness, and education. By combining my background in sport with my clinical nutrition knowledge, I aim to help athletes develop their own personal nutrition strategies. I believe that the ideal diet is different for each athlete; there’s no one-size-fits all approach. I love supporting athletes of all ages and promoting a positive, affirming approach to nutrition. Nothing makes me happier than watching athletes learn to trust their bodies and fuel with confidence.
I'm also a real human being. I love listening to live music, thrift shopping, spending time with friends and family, and being outside in nature. And, of course, I love to run. I'm a member of the Running Wild Elite team in Davenport, where I have the privilege of chasing PRs with a great group of friends. Right now, I'm a big fan of the 5k, 10k, and half marathon.
As a dietitian, I believe all foods fit. I love to eat a wide range of foods, but peanut butter is my all-time favorite. I pair it with oatmeal, bananas, toast, sweet potatoes, chocolate...the list is endless! Most days, I have a few spoonfuls straight from the jar for good measure.

Competed collegiate track and field at the University of Northern Iowa. Graduated with a degree in Movement and Exercise Science.
I learned the importance of good nutrition, great teammates, and outstanding coaches. I love coming back to Cedar Falls. Highlights include running at Big Woods and eating at one of the last remaining Pita Pit restaurants in Iowa.
Obtained my Master's degree in Human Nutritional Science from the University of Wisconsin Stout.
I told myself I'd move somewhere warm for graduate school...that didn't work out. It was cold. Despite the snow, I received a life-changing education. I taught nutrition classes at local schools and farmer's markets. I conducted research on knowledge, beliefs, and use of protein-based supplements in collegiate track and field athletes. I also gained valuable leadership experience on the Stout Student Dietetic Association board.
Completed my dietetic internship at the University of Iowa while volunteering as a nutrition intern for the Hawkeyes.
I received top-tier mentorship and gained first-hand experience working with student-athletes. I developed educational materials, ran the social media accounts, and hosted countless cooking demonstrations. Energy bites, anyone?
Became the first Clinical Sports Dietitian at University of Iowa Sports Medicine.
In this role, I was able to provide individual nutrition education and counseling to athletes of all ages. I helped middle schoolers fuel to support their growth and development, and guided Master's athletes in their quest to improve in the marathon. I supported athletes through the highs (breaking PRs and committing to D1 athletic programs) and the lows (navigating disordered eating, injuries, and illness). I also spoke at more than 30 high schools and colleges across the state. This role helped me connect with athletes from all walks of life.
Worked as Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition for University of Iowa Athletics.
Fueling the Hawkeyes was an absolute privilege. Working for the University of Iowa Athletic department enabled me to gain experience with a wide range of sports. Through individual and group nutrition education, I was able to help wrestlers reach their competition weights (without the use of dangerous restrictive behaviors) and teach teams the importance of eating enough before, during, and after practice. I helped athletes and support staff maintain optimal fueling habits during hectic travel schedules. I also developed menus, crafted recipes, and curated snack options to support high-level performance.
